The safety of drivers and passengers on the road is a priority for Ford, and it continues to develop and implement new safety systems for its vehicles. Comprising smarter tech and advanced safety systems, here are the Ford features that will protect you and your loved ones on the road.

Pre-Collision Assist with Automatic Emergency Braking

The pre-collision assist system will scan the road ahead of you to detect vehicles and pedestrians that could cause a collision. You’ll get an audible and visual alert, and if you don’t take corrective action, the brakes will automatically apply to help prevent an accident or minimize the impact.

Automatic High-Beam Headlights

Visibility is significantly reduced at night, but many drivers don’t know the best time to switch from high to low beams, or they forget. The automatic high-beam headlights in your Ford can detect oncoming vehicles and automatically switch from high to low and back again after the vehicle passes.

Blind Spot Information System with Cross Traffic Alert

The blind-spot information system uses sensors and cameras to detect when there is a vehicle in your blind spot. It will provide a visual and audible alert to let you know whenever a car, motorcycle, or truck is approaching. Rear cross-traffic alert uses the same cameras and sensors to detect vehicles behind you when reversing.

Intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control

Ford’s intelligent adaptive cruise control system allows you to set your speed to go with the traffic flow and automatically keeps your Ford within a certain distance from the vehicle in front of you. It includes lane-centering, speed sign recognition, and stop-and-go to keep you in your lane and adjust your speed in response to the posted speed limits. This system can even bring the vehicle to a complete halt if the traffic ahead of you stops and then resume your set speed when it gets moving again.

Evasive Steering Assist

If you are driving in traffic and suddenly a vehicle slows or stops right in your path, the evasive steering assist system can help you avoid hitting it. While it doesn’t steer for you, it will provide the extra steering support you need to maneuver around the vehicle ahead.

Lane-Keeping System

The lane-keeping system helps prevent you from wandering out of your lane when the turn signal is not activated. If you become distracted and start heading toward the edge of your lane, it can alert you to a steering wheel vibration and provide some steering support to help you return to the center. If the system detects that you’ve drifted repeatedly, it will illuminate the coffee cup icon, suggesting it’s time to take a break.

These advanced driver aids are some innovative tech features that Ford equips its vehicles with to help ensure you stay safe on the roads. Additional features are available depending on the model. Just stop by your local Ford dealer to find out more.
