Ford Towing Capacity Enhancement Packages Explained by Your Ford Dealer
Class II Trailer Tow Packages
Offered on the 2024 Edge, Bronco Sport, and Escape models, the various Class II Trailer Tow Packages increase the towing capacity to 3,500 lbs. Upgrading your vehicle with one of the Class II optional packages is required for towing trailers over 1,500 lbs with the Edge or Bronco Sport and for trailers over 2,000 lbs on the Escape.
Ford doesn’t offer a Class II package for the 2024 Bronco, but we can enhance the vehicle’s towing capacity with dealer-installed genuine Ford towing equipment.
Class IV Trailer Tow Packages
With an upgraded 2-inch receiver and a durable design, the Class IV Trailer Tow Package can boost the towing capacity of your Ford Expedition from 6,300 to 9,300 lbs. The same package can also enhance the towing capacity of the 2024 Ford Explorer to a maximum of 5,600 lbs.
The 2024 Maverick and Ranger pickups are also compatible with optional Class IV Tow Packages for maximum towing capacities of 4,000 and 7,500 lbs, respectively.
Max Trailer Tow Package
With an enhanced Class IV hitch, the Max Trailer Tow Package is available on the 2024 Ford F-150, increasing the truck’s maximum towing capacity from a conventional 11,600 lbs to 13,500 lbs, depending on the box and drive type.
Packages for Ford’s Super-Duty Lineup
The High-Capacity Axle Upgrade Package is required on the 2024 F-250 model for trailers over 18,200 lbs, delivering a maximum towing capacity of 22,900 lbs, depending on the cab, box, and drive type. The 40K Gooseneck Tow Package and the Heavy Duty Payload Package can equip the F-350 and F-450 models for maximum towing capacities of 38,000 and 40,000 lbs, respectively.
